![]() When I release this mod, I'll put as "JSR HD Playable Characters - DRM Edition", because it will come with the pngs for the new textures, allowing anyone to edit and release their version. In Video Game Settings, the Graffiti Town is a lighter version of Gangster Land where the action takes place in a modern urban area that has all the stereotypical elements of being "urban": tall brick apartment buildings with some wear and tear, elaborate and/or gigantic graffiti on the buildings, and tall chain-link fences. The artworks already aren't equal to the models, so I had to choose what would be better to adapt, something that already looks one way in the game, or a representation that probably was made before the designs was 100% settle (in artwork, she doesn't have her face tatto, her headphone's antenna doesn't have the red in the higher point, her skates back don't have white stripes) ![]() In fanArts by the community, the symbols were mostly displayed this way, that's why I'm doing them like that (just compare the symbols of the front of her clothes to see what I mean) Each character (mew and onishima) took me 2 hours each, meaning doing all of them will take a while and I only have 4 hours in a day to do it outside of work or sleep The textures won't be equal to the art for a few reasons: And I bet others on this subreddit could too, if they're interested. I could help find images, if that's what you need. And in the case where what the original artist meant to draw onto a character in the video game but was lost in the low-quality original texture, you could use various clues and your understanding of the original artist and their style, to deduce what was meant to be in the original image and try to the best of your ability to create what you think they intended to draw. When it comes to minor characters that may not have official artwork, you could use the art that you do have available of the major characters to study the art style and learn to replicate it so that you could essentially draw any character minor or original/fanmade in that same art style. Even though there may not be much official art of the game and its characters, it may be sufficient for this task. You could use as much of the official art of the Jet Set Radio characters as you could, as a reference point for the new textures. It's one reason I usually prefer the original versions of video games compared to their remasters (see: Radiant Historia). ![]() Don't get me wrong - it's not like I dislike your style in and of itself, it's just that I personally prefer when renovations/remakes/etc stick to the artist's original intention/vision, and I'd imagine there are others that feel that way too now that I think about it. I understand that it may be quite a bit of work already to just create HD textures, but is there any chance you could make the textures as faithful as you can to the original art style and designs? Your new textures for Mew already look good, but it seemed like there was significant deviation from the original style. Have a good day, afternoon or night, good-bye - R - U - N - º₍ ᐢ._.ᐢ₎ Like I said, when I create a texture for all entities I'll send in this community the file with also a tutorial on how to use it. This means that for sure, we can change images, I'm not sure if we can change the music and sound effects with other tools, but if yes, then the last thing we need to discover is how to change the 3D polygons themselves to have full control on how we decide to play the game. ![]() If I ever decide to remake all the game's texture at some point (I don't feel like doing that, maybe if I see that progress is fast) will I also rescale the graffitis? No, I like how they look now, but if someone upscales it for themselves, good luck because an AI wouldn't do a 100% good rescale of it without some loses. Mew's texture remade (80% complete, will conclude this one today after work) In this example, compare Mew's symbols in her clothes and her eyes I thought "what if I scaled the texture, will the UV's be messed up? The answer is no, meaning we can recreate the textures just fine, this and next week I'll make a mod/pack for all characters like NPCs in the background, enemies and obviously the playable characters. TexMod basically extracts and imports textures from softwares that use DirectX, and thankfully JSR uses it as well. I'm almost done with the available achievements and decided to verify if there were mods for the game so that my next few playthroughs wouldn't be so boring, and I discovered someone called "Q and A mods" on Gamebanana used a software called TexMod to change Beat's texture into something more similar his design in JSRF. Hello JSR community, this is my first post here : - )
